Florida Fern gobblers
With Brandon Adams and Head Busta Turkey Calls
Cold Missouri March weather pushes Team BOG down into the heart of Central Florida to team up on an Osceola spring turkey hunt with Major League Bowhunter’s Brandon Adams and Ernie Edwards from Head Busta Turkey Calls. After roosting birds the first night, the crew assumed this would be a “slam dunk” hunt. What came next were three days of unexpected twists and turns that proves hunters should always be ready for the unknown.
TERRITORY PROFILE: Central Florida
The area of Florida that the BOG crew chose to hunt is one of the most environmentally unique locations in the world. This area contains the perfect mixture of soil, climate, and structure to support large industry of ferneries that can only be found in a handful of places around the world. A combination of unique ferns, swamps and large oak hammocks, laden heavy with Spanish Moss, make turkey hunting in Florida seem like a completely different world. The Osceola turkey, otherwise known as the Florida turkey, is one of five subspecies of wild turkey in North America. Osceola turkeys live only in the Florida peninsula and tend to be slightly smaller and darker than other species of turkeys.
